server crash: ad0: hard error cmd

ADSL connection woes
Hi, i have an interesting problem i would like some insight into. i have a freeBSD server acting as a proxy firewall for an ADSL connection into my office. Problems with ordinary user permissions

Ethernet Drivers with 5.1 not happening
Hiya, I posted a question about this last week. I have done a little homework and I am resubmitting my question with more information and i hope someone can help this time around. I am building a FreeBSD 5.1 box for a client using a fairly new ASUS Mainboard, that SHOULD according to the HARDWARE.TXT file on my installer CDROM, work with all the hardware chip-sets concerned. precisely, an Intel 82562EZ LAN PHY. These are the relevant lines i get from pciconf -lv : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:8:0: class=0x202 card=0x80f81043 chip=0x10508086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' class = network subclass = ethernet AND this is what i get from dmesg | more : pci1: ACPI PCI bus on pcib1 pci1: network, ethernet at device 8.0 (no driver attached) is there a way i might just install some drivers without reinstalling the whole system? I think someone has made some recently, although i am not familiar with the procedure of obtaining and installing them. I have experience installing from ISO images and adding the odd port but not much beyond that. NIC card not showing up during 5.1 install
i am building a new server for a client and my hardware vendor changed my usual hardware profile to use an 800fsb ASUS Mainboard, it runs the Intel 865G chipset. I have tried installing 5.1 but it cannot see to onboard Ethernet and seems to get upset running the mouse when the XF86 server starts up for some reason. i have 2 bootable installer discs for 5.1 made from ISO images some months ago. I had a look at the current HARDWARE.TXT in the first disc and the network card is supported so it says Intel 82562-based Fast Ethernet NICs when i get the prompt during installation to configure network connections i only get a sellection of four serial connections PPP SLIP etc. I remember being given a choice of one NIC as well so, does this mean it might be there somewhere? when i run a 'netstat -i' i cant see anything that looks like a NIC. I just tried to install their NEW package.. makayla# pkg_add fbsd4.ymessenger.tgz pkg_add: could not find package gtk-1.2.3 ! pkg_add: could not find package glib-1.2.3 ! pkg_add: could not find package XFree86-3.3.6 ! pkg_add: could not find package gdk-pixbuf-0.8.0 ! pkg_add: could not find package gettext-0.11.1_1 ! I have the following installed.. which worked fine with version 0.99.19.1.. gtk-1.2.10_10 gtk-2.2.4 glib-1.2.10_10 glib-2.2.3 XFree86-4.3.0,1 gdk-pixbuf-0.22.0 gettext-0.12.1 While I know the maintainer of the messenger port will have dealt with this issue before he commits the update, but why would Yahoo have released a new version today against depandants that are almost 6 months old?
