rum0 performance 1Mbps; ath0 reboots system
Hi, List, Recently I've set up my non-lcd-wokring HP NX9020 notebook as ADSL gateway and AP on 7.1-release Everything works well except wireless. I have LogiLink WL0025 (RT2573) which users rum(4) driver. I now it's not recomended to use rum cards as hostap, but my ath(4) card works even worse(later on that). IT is a USB stick so if it was connected as USB 1.0 device i would expect that kind of performance, but it's not (i guess :) ) addr 1: UHCI root hub, Intel, device uhub0 addr 1: UHCI root hub, Intel, device uhub1 addr 1: UHCI root hub, Intel, device uhub2 addr 1: EHCI root hub, Intel, device uhub3 addr 2: product 0x0018, vendor 0x13b1, device axe0 addr 3: 802.11 bg WLAN, Ralink, device rum0 Also mind that I'm using USB ethernet adapter on the same USB root hub. I tried to use Netgear WG511T (atheros 5212) (carbus) but it constantly couses IRQ storms with cbb0 device, after I disable acpi it works, but even slower than rum0 card and panics the machine if I remove the card from working machine. Any thoughts would be appreciated. dmesg attached. nbgw# vmstat -i interrupt total rate irq0: clk 44926114 1000 irq1: atkbd0 186 0 irq8: rtc5749743127 irq9: uhci2 acpi0 264526 5 irq10: rl0 uhci0 434405 9 irq11: cbb0 uhci1+ 25789037574 irq12: psm0 136 0 irq14: ata0 646740 14 Total 77810887 1732 opyright (c) 1992-2009 The FreeBSD Project. Intel SATA RAID SRCS16 performance
Hi, this week I got server with Intel(R) RAID Controller SRCS16 8 port SATA RAID controller, which needed to be reinstalled. After backing all data and reinstall, I noticed that writing to logical drives almost never exceeds 700 bytes/sec. Testing with dd : dd if=/dev/zero of=/usr/test.dat bs=1M count=1000 changing bs does not show any changes. Though read perfmormance is normal : about 5500 bytes/sec, testing with dd : dd if=/dev/amrd0s1f of=/dev/null bs=1M count=1000 I get same results no matter what drive configuration is RAID1, RAID0, JBOD Same drives connected to motherboard SATA raid ports give me : # dd if=/dev/zero of=/mirror0/data.test bs=1M count=1000 1000+0 records in 1000+0 records out 1048576000 bytes transferred in 19.018282 secs (55135158 bytes/sec) and # dd if=/dev/ar0s1d of=/dev/null bs=1M count=1000 1000+0 records in 1000+0 records out 1048576000 bytes transferred in 15.036276 secs (69736416 bytes/sec) updating to RELENG_7 gave no results. # uname -a FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE #0: Wed Jun 25 17:09:28 EEST 2008 root@:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/contestus i386 So I guess that there is a problem with the controller and driver Testing with Linux Debian lenny gives me better results : ~32MB/s on controller RAID drives. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance. FreeBSD constantly hanging
Hi, I have a serious problem, that I cannot solve my self :( I have freebsd 6.2 router that has 3 NICs (lan, wan, dmz), suddenly (about two weeks ago) it started to hang without leaving anything in logs. I thought that it was hardware problem. So at first I changed motherboard, ram, cpu, NIC's, PSU, I kept changing everything but it was still hanging :/, reinstalled, but it didn't help. Then we got brand new PC and I did fresh install of 6.2_RELEAS-200708, but to my surprise it was still hanging. There may by power issues, but in the same place there are 2 more servers : HP Proliant ML310 G4 with windoze and second is simple P4 1.6Ghz with 6.0-STABLE, both of them are not hanging. Hanging machine is connected to the APC 350 ups, but it does not help. pppoe + ipfw + natd and jails
Hi, I'm runnig fbsd as a router at home for dsl. Everything was runing fine until one day. Suddenly all pcs in lan stoped opening foreign web pages and connecting to foreign hosts, though I could ping those hosts. That seemd like isp problem so i called them and they said everything is fine. So I started to mess around with ipfw rules. So heres my conf.: dsl modem ^ | [tun0] [rl0] FBSD [bind jail with mldonkey] [squid jail] [rl1] | | ^ LAN The conf. of ipfw and natd that worked earlier #ipfw list 05000 divert 8668 ip from any to any via tun0 06000 allow ip from any to any 65535 deny ip from any to any #cat natd.conf dynamic yes same_ports yes use_sockets yes unregistered_only yes redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:4662 4662 redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:4662 4662 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:4672 4672 redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:4672 4672 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:6346 6346 redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:6346 6346 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:6347 6347 redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:6347 6347 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:6881-6889 6881-6889 redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:6881-6889 6881-6889 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253:1214 1214 redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253: redirect_port tcp 192.168.0.253: redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253: redirect_port udp 192.168.0.253:2234 2234 [192.168.0.253 is a bind jail with mldonkey] #cat rc.conf gateway_enable=YES hostname=gw.anm.lan ifconfig_pcn0=down ifconfig_rl1=inet 192.168.0.254 netmask 255.255.255.0 ifconfig_rl0=up ifconfig_tun0=up ppp_enable=YES ppp_profile=takas ppp_mode=ddial firewall_enable=YES firewall_type=/etc/firewall/ipfw.rules firewall_quiet=NO natd_enable=YES natd_interface=tun0 natd_flags=-f /etc/firewall/natd.conf usbd_enable=NO sendmail_enable=NONE syslogd_flags=-b 192.168.0.254 IPs to jails aliased added when jail is starting. Re: Problem regarding dhcp and FreeBSD 4.10 on a laptop
Scott Key wrote: I have a Toshiba Satellite that used to run Win 98 until I got fed up and installed FreeBSD. This is my first FreeBSD installation, though I received help from a few people more knowledgable than I. The problem I am having is this: I have comcast broadband internet on a Linksys Wireless-G Gateway Modem/Router. I have two other computers that run windows, both of which have no problem using dhcp to obtain their IP addresses. For reasons that I have been unable to figure out after days of searching the internet, DHCP will assign a proper IP when pccard_ifconfig is set to use it in the rc.conf. The problem is that I am unable to get past the network. I can ping within the network to my hearts content, and if pinging my router and other computers was entertaining for more than five seconds, I'd be dandy. I have tried setting static IP's, I've tried manually adding the route's needed into the routing table, but NOTHING thus far has allowed be get outside the network. I contacte d my cable company, who dutifully reported to me that they have no idea what FreeBSD is, anything other than Windows or Mac, and they are useless. In any event, I hope that some help can be provided in this matter. Everything else with FreeBSD works wonderfully, but for some reason, it simply will not allow me access the internet. Just to clarify, the PCcard is being recognized by FreeBSD, I added it in, it works fine. I have configured rc.conf to include a pccard_ifconfig (currently it's set to DHCP, which seems to be setting the appropriate ip address).
