Update... Frustrated by unknown errors in what seemed initially a successful port install and hours searching for fixes decided to pkg_deinstalled festival 1.9.6_1 and all dependencies. After rebooting decided to download the latest version of festival-2.0.95-beta.tar.gz located at http://festvox.org/festival/ . After reading instructions and disabling certain sound device support, compiled required Festival files with gmake also installed voices, lexicons dicts After a few gmake tests, decided to test out text2wave hello.txt -o hello.wav to my freaking suprise it works like a charm! Have not tested any speech stuff, since all I need is text2wave to work properly. Getting doctors and nurses to sit down and spend the time going through a list of words that they must repeate 10 to 15 times. Then they tend to alter the way they speak toward the end. There are some less involved steps that might be needed, like setting flags in /etc/rc.conf to enable new ports. Some ports have services that need to be started, and csh/tcsh users may need to use the rehash command before using new ports. -Warren Block * Rapid City, South Dakota USA ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to freebsd-questions-unsubscr...@freebsd.org

Re: XFCE4 Errors on FreeBSD 8.0 RELEASE
Warren, Got XFCE4 installed after a get amount of tweaking. It turns out Portsnap did not update all the appropriate files so installed portupgrade and did a portupgrade glib. Glib was not the current version needed for usr/ports/x11-wm/xfce4. After the portupgrade make install clean worked like a champ. My /etc/hosts file was also missing the current domain so needed to update that.
