I have a non standard package installed on a FreeBSD box. It is the FreeBSD
version of Adaptec's RAID management software.
I want to use portupgrade to manage the other packages and ports on that
same server however portupgrade gets very upset about this non-standard
package and refuses to run

My make buildworld/kernl keeps failing out with this error:

Is this now required to compile IPFilter on FreeBSD 5.2?
Isn't there some way to generate a LINT file? I remember doing it once but
can't find it anymore.

I get this error when I am trying to start apmd on a FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE-p10
laptop.
Without apmd, rc.suspend and rc.resume are not run which means I can't
script anything when the correlating events occur.
Any ideas?

Has anyone had any success getting a wavelan card working in 4.9?
I have a Dell Ispiron 5150 with a fresh install from the CD, and it says
that the Lucent WaveLan card is there... (card inserted, pccard slot 0) but
no wi0 inteface is created.
Any ideas?
How do I go about troubleshooting this?
Are you using a custom kernel?
I was using a cutom kernel and didn't notice they had made some changes to
entries in the GENERIC kernel config file. Once I added those diffs into my
custom kernel config file and deleted the usr directory in /usr/obj/ I
didn't have the problems complining the

I was loading both the sbc and the pcm modules. I thought that wasn't
suppose to be any more different than if they were compiled into the the
kernel using the config file.
But then again, I'm not an expert with the kernel either...

Yeah, I got tired of having no success with the modules so I tried compiling
the sbc and pcm drivers directly into the kernel.
Suprise! It now works.
So why doesn't it work with the KLMs?

Have you tried booting without ACPI?
I've had all sorts of problems with FreeBSD's ACPI. In fact, I have yet to
install it on a box that it doesn't panic, hang or break something.
To do this, interrupt the kernel countdown and then do this:
set hint.acpi.0.disabled=1
