I think it should be sufficient to set hald_enable=FALSE in etc/rc.conf
to deactivate hald instead of chmod usr/local/etc/rc.d/hald.

Has anybody tried them successfully?
Better ask on freebsd-scsi - the guy working on the driver most
likely reads there.

Are you sure

Apart from switching the ext2s to ufs, does someone has other
suggestions for solving the problem?
Do you suggest another group for this question?
Thanks in advance and best wishes,

The printer works fine under windows. So, I think it's a software problem. Do
you have any hint for me?
Kind regards

I found that the usb backend stalled here before actually doing any
work. Before I've done any actual
kernel module under 6.x? In
theory this could work if the kernel interfaces haven't changed,
right?
Please also respond directly to me since I am not subscribed to this list.
Thanks for your help,

FreeBSD matures, it might also kill the only other reason for Linux on
that thing ;-)
If you want to keep a HP, try a NX 7010 and see if that works better.
The Pavillion-series is really the low-end of the spectrum.
