Re: Someone on list with latest virus?
I agree that a number of people on this list have been affected by the virus and it is really helpful of you to have posted to the list because those infected are sending out huge volumes of emails to some of us on the list. I would recomend that everyone on this list checks their system if it is vulnerable at the earliest opportunity and remove the virus from their system. I am receiving over 100 emails a day from infected systems. Re: Something is wrong here
Inthat casethe automated message which tell people with whom to communicate when they get thrown off the list needs to be changed so that when something is clearly wrong you do not get a seemingly inane response when you follow the instructions;-) Just who is responsible for : 1. Maintaining the wording of the automated reply 2. The rules which generate the automated reply 3. The rules which interprete whether ort not someone has excessive bounces 4. The rules which should determine whether someone gets thrown off the list or not At the moment I perceive this problem being excessively bounced around with noone taking responsibilty to deal with it. The problem has been around for at least 6 months. Look something is clearly wrong here -- the whole thing needs looking into - every reply I get from anyone appears to be defensive rather than pro-actively empathetic - sothe correspondence is getting protracted and I am beginning to feel irritated - David - Original Message - From: David Wolfskill [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 04, 2003 8:03 AM Subject: Re: Something is wrong here All of the [EMAIL PROTECTED] addresses (for all of the mailman- managed mailing lists) map to the list [EMAIL PROTECTED], which is a list that: * is restricted to the folks doing mailing list administration at FreeBSD.ORG and * is a posting-by-subscribers-only list. Something is wrong here
HI I have previously emailed [EMAIL PROTECTED] over problems with regard to what gets classified as excessive bounces. As a result of which I repeatedly get removed from the list. On each occasion I receive an email that tells me I have been temoved due to excessive bounces. That email quotes a confirm reference which does not work. I have to log in to my account and change the preferences in order to continue to receive the list postings. This always seems to happen during a period of time when: (a) I have made no postings to the list (so that rules out anything posted by me having bounced!) (b) I have received multiple emails from many other sources and there are no records of bounces from other lists (including multiple freebsd lists!) (c) The emails to me from [EMAIL PROTECTED] are reaching me. So what is happening??? Perhaps the settings for the mail server do not deal gracefully with advice that mail is temporarily undeliverable for some reason or what -- anyway it is happening too often. As I cannot seem to get an empathetic reply free [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am posting this query to the list -- I would like to know if anyone else is having similar problems. Re: Automatic bounce problems
Brian I hate to say this Brian but it is your conclusion that is silly. Seeing as the mails that have bounced did not originate from me but from some other person posting to the list and were forwarded by freebsd-questions to an ISP's server from which they were bounced there can be no way in which the simple cure could be for me to change my headers..(seing as neither I nor my systems neither originated nor had any contact with the message) if that was the case why does this mail not produce the same result? Also the mails I am sending to freebsd-questions (such as this one and the last one towhich you replied - are not beeing bounced. Sounds to me like you do not (with many good reasons)like MS$ but have jumped to the erroneous conclusion that Outlook must be to blame when on this occasion when it could not possible have any connection with the incident. Does anyone have any useful theories? David Of course! As I said. You must be using Outlook or somethng equally silly. Look at the superfluous header under Original Message. The cure is simple. When replying, delete that header. - Original Message - From: Brian Astill [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: vizion communication [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 15, 2003 7:20 PM Subject: Re: Automatic bounce problems On Wed, 16 Jul 2003 09:58 am, vizion communication wrote: For the second time I have had mails to me stopped due to automati claissification of mails which have temproarily not been accepted by a mail server to mailserver malfunction at an ISP. Automatic bounce problems
Hi For the second time I have had mails to me stopped due to automati claissification of mails which have temproarily not been accepted by a mail server to mailserver malfunction at an ISP. This is the only freebsd list for which this has occured. Could someone please look into this problem. Perhaps the number of undeleiverable mails which trigger the auto cutoff of an address are set too low ?? Anyway it does seem weird -- I have received over 500 mails today without any problem. Raid - how do I???
Hi I could do with some help from someone who is an experienced hand. I have a compaq Proliant 5500 quad processor. This system includes the proliant raid which has four physical drives (each of 18.2G) on ida0 which are configured as three devices idad0, idad1 idad2. I have a reported soft error on ida0. One of the physical drives has its disk drive light showing red. All seems well with the data so whatever the cause the raid is obviously doing its job!. Can anyone please tell me what steps I should now undertake or direct me to an appropriate information source. Please let me know if you need any more information.
