Hello,
I've just upgraded my server from 5.0-RELEASE to 5.1-RELEASE yesterday, using buildworld/installworld et al. Ever since, I haven't been able to boot with any >= 5.0 kernel, GENERIC or custom, SMP or not (4.8 and 4.4 work, though). Every kernel panics with an error that looks something like this (this one is taken from trying to boot with GENERIC from the "kern.flp" floppy, from the 5.1-RELEASE CD):

Fatal trp 12: page fault while in kernel mode
cpuid =1; lapic.id = 00000000
fault virtual address = 0x5c
fault code = supervisor read
.....
current process = 4 (g_down)
trap number = 12
panic: page fault

boot -v shows that this error happens RIGHT after it says "GEOM: new disk idad0", so I have a sneaking suspicion that GEOM doesn't like my raid controller, even though it's been working rather flawlessly ever since I've start using BSD. I'm not even quite sure what GEOM is, does, or why it's making my kernel panic.

So I was wondering whether this was a known issue and if there was some kind of solution available? Or maybe if it might just be a flagrant mistake on my part? Regardless, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Maxime Romano
