If you have ssh(1) installed on both machines, do something like this
dump 0f - /filesystem | ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] 'gzip
filesystem.dump.gz'
on the system to be backed up.

I think I have enough to take another stab at it. I also discovered that
the developer's handbook has a lot of useful info - though it seems the
chapter on signals is missing?
