i have fbsd 4.9-release and installed sane-backends and sane-frontends from ports, then i edited the dll.conf and deleted the "#" in front of umax_pp and edited the umax_pp.conf (changed the device to various values including /dev/ppi0 /dev/lpt0 auto) ... after that i ran "scanimage -L" but it didnt find my scanner ... do i have to restart my computer (which i really dont want to) or what to get the scanner detected?
