What Is Needed For SimpleXML Support in PHP?
I have php5-5.2.9 installed on my FBSD 6.3 system. I am attempting to use a php script that fails with: Call to undefined function simplexml_load_string() Googling suggests that this function is part of the PHP software and is installed by default unless built with the --disable-simplexml configure option. On my system, almost everything including PHP has been installed using portupgrade. I searched the ports and found one named php5-simplexml so I installed it and tried the script again. It still failed with the same error. More Googling and I found that php -m will show which modules are available. Here's that output: blacklamb php -m [PHP Modules] ... SimpleXML ... Thus it appears that SimpleXML is available. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? I'm lost. Thanks, Drew -- Be a Great Magician! My guess is that this is a web script that you're running via a browser, and you didn't restart Apache after installing simplexml. Apache seems to cache the list of installed PHP modules. -- Bill Moran http://www.potentialtech.com ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to freebsd-questions-unsubscr...@freebsd.org

This is what I first thought when I saw this. It also may matter that because simplexml depends on xml and iconv extension=xml.so and extension=iconv.so may need to be before extension=simplexml.so in extensions.ini -Mike ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to freebsd-questions-unsubscr...@freebsd.org

And although I was sure I had restarted Apache since installing php5-simplexml, I tried again. The resolved the error. I will now sit in the corner wearing my dunce cap.
