What version of FreeBSD are you running? There are several versions of gcc in the ports (/usr/ports/lang). If they won't build, you probably need to upgrade your sys/kernel or at least rebuild them. You could also download a package. Downloading a version outside the FreeBSD ports/packages is not recommended and your mileage may definitely vary. Please post your compile errors so we can see what's going on.
