You will also need to change the libmap.conf entry for acroread. It points to
/usr/compat/linux and needs to point to the nppd.so in /usr/local/lib/acroread.
You will need to enter the full pathname (sorry I am at work on MS).

linuxpluginwrapper does not install plugins as dependencies
unless one passes the -DWITH_PLUGINS option to make. This may be
 the problem.

Another gotya is that pluginwrapper now installs the plugins in
browser_linux_plugins, which native firefox or mozilla will not see. You have
to change all the plugin links so they are in browser_plugins as well as
changing the nppdf.so (acroread) link to the right place as above. Another
option might be to nuke browser_linux_plugins and make the directory a link
to browser_plugins before building pluginwrapper. On top of all this, I still
have yet to get realplayer to play nicely with the current firefox. It worked
with the old one but stopped working after the last firefox upgrade. I don't
know if it affects mozilla.

mplayer-plugin with mozilla-1.7 on my laptop??

2004-09-10 Thread Gary Kline

I think getting mplayer-plugin to work under 5.3(beta) was
already discussed. I didn't pay much attention to it
because, one, I as focusing on getting it to work here
where I'm running 4.10, and also I didn't think mplayer
would work. Wrong. It works where the Windoze player is
required just fine.

Now I would like to get mplayer-plugin working on my latop
which is running 5.3-beta. It's plugin opens an mplayer
graphic, but there is a truncated message printed to
stderr, and no sound. Is there a fix to get mplayer working
on FBSD-5*?

thanks,

Take a look at http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/en-AU/linux.html#Acrobat

Perhaps, the acroread 5.08 port will install the nppdf.so file?

installing acrobat reader 5.08 (linux-version) will install nppdf.so.
maybe you will have to setup your libmap.conf, so that it uses the right
threading-libray.

with linux-pluginwrapper flash and pdf-plugins work quite easily.

Thanks! That's actually kind of nice, though it took a
little fiddling to get right (using gpdf instead of
xpdf, for example). Still easier than running Acroread
under Linux compat.

But it does seem to conflict with other plugins. I had
been using mplayerplug-in, but now that no longer
works, and the plugger line for mpeg video is not
working (I guess I could fix it, but I like
mplayerplug-in). Can these work together, or does
plugger have to handle everything?

It only works on linux-mozilla, of course, but I think the port sets it
up:

# cd /usr/ports/www/linux-flashplugin
# make
# make install

If that doesn't do it, you can just symlink the files:

# cd /usr/local/lib/linux-mozilla/plugins
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/netscape-linux/plugins/ShockwaveFlash.class
# ln -s /usr/local/lib/netscape-linux/plugins/libflashplayer.so
