Hello everyone
I am a newbie. I have just Installed FreeBSD 5.3 and I am
trying to get X started. But after typing Xorg -configure (I
learned this from the Hand-Book) I got the following error

Fatal server error:
xf86EnableIO: Failed to open /dev/io for extended
It's strange cause it should be in the kernel GENERIC on 5.3
Anyway, just add:
dev io
in you kernelconfig and it will work.
If you don't know how to compile the kernel, check the handbook.

X should work out of the box from a standard installation - no need to
recompile the kernel. The generic

I have a problem. When I am starting My X server with only a user privilegies - it
gives me an error containing:
error in locking authority file
.Xauthority
But when i am a root - all perfect.
What's the problem
