Re: upgrade to 6 -build kernel error

2005-11-17 Thread Efren Bravo
Hi,

I upgraded from 5.4-RELEASE-i386 to
6.0-RELEASE-i386 and everything went well but
when I tried to rebuild the kernel, I get these
errors:

# pwd
/usr/src/sys/i386/conf
# config MYKERNEL
../../conf/files: coda/coda_fbsd.c must be
optional, mandatory or standard
# cd ../compile/MYKERNEL
# make depend
make: don't know how to make depend. Stop

What is happening? I tried with original GENERIC
but I get the same errors

Thanks...

Efren Bravo.

Try:

# cd /usr/src
# make kernel KERNCONF=MYKERNEL

You're not following the documented upgrade procedure (see the
Handbook). This is *VERY IMPORTANT* when upgrading between different
releases of FreeBSD. If you don't follow that path precisely you can
be left with an unbootable system or worse.
