I understand this is possible but cant seem to find any how to`s or
guides out on the net, I would like to set up a jail running FreeBSD 8.0
i386 on a system that is running FreeBSD 8.0 amd64.
JAILS requires host and client systems source code in sync. So that makes it
impossible to run a
with copying of all packages from the FreeBSD
main/mirror sites to your local server.
Instead of working with packages, I suggest working with ports. As you
have already installed a base system, you can install anything with ports.

!
There is no BSD distro thing!
BSD is direct descendent of UNIX! (so things are quite different in BSD
realm)

with xscreensaver-daemon or
editing the .xscreensaver file by hand.
Use the Xscreensaver-demo frontend to select the screensaver, idle and
cycle time. You'll get those gtk erors and ignore them ;) The frontend
will generate the .xscreensaver file for you.

add something else?
The OpenOffice.org package is a big one and consumes a lot of bandwith.
Therefore some may not be available.
Try to build OpenOffice.org from ports. It takes time, be patient.

As far as I can read from the installation manual, FreeBsd's
partitioning scheme is different than linux, this is the 1st
difference I know for now. I would appreciate if you could direct me
to web pages(if any) where these differences are pointed out.
Consult the HANDBOOK[1]
Crashcourse for
it there automatically?
All packages will be stored
in /usr/ports/packages/All/relevant/sub/directory. There is no need
for any any configuration or files. # make package is the proper
command for building packages which are/is installed via ports.
