No, the _src_ tree is/was frozen. The ports will be frozen on 3 Sept.

The beta is built as we speak.

5.3-BETA1 released today for testing

2004-08-20 Thread JJB
 http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.3R/schedule.html says that the
5.3-BETA1 tier-1 platform images are scheduled to be released and
uploaded to ftp-master.FreeBSD.org by Aug 20, 2004.

The ftp-master.FreeBSD.org server does not accept guest or anonymous
logons.

Is the testing release of 5.3-BETA1 behind schedule allready and not
yet on ftp-master.FreeBSD.org?

How can people get 5.3-BETA1 miniistall.iso image for testing?

What is the status of this testing release and how do people get
access to help out in testing?

So are you saying that when ftp-master.FreeBSD.org is finally
updated with 5.3-BETA1 it will be changed to allow anonymous logons?

No. ftp-master never allows anon.

When ftp-master is updated with 5.3-BETA1, it will then be possible for
the mirror sites to d/l it to make it available for the general public.
ftp-master is only available to mirror sites. When it becomes available
on your local mirror is dependent on their sync schedule.
