Hi,
This is a question about a hardware problem. I hope this is an
appropriate place to ask.
I have a recently purchased Lenovo ThinkPad, with a Atheros 5212
wireless card (well, dmesg says it's an Atheros 5212; I believe it).
It also has a wired internet connector, which works perfectly fine.

want to upgrade all applications. For more details, see ports(7) or

Hi,
As a 6 year linux user, i am new to freebsd. :)
In my laptop i have a atheros wireless card. To use it, i compiled modules;
# cd /sys/modules/ath
# make; make load
# cd /sys/modules/ath_hal
# make; make load
# cd /sys/modules/ath_rate_sample
# make; make load
# cd /sys/modules/wlan
# make
That's good. Thanks for the help!
But I forgot to ask: Is WPA managed through some other layer(like
wpa_supplicant), or is it integrated into iwconfig?

Hi,
it's not about the ath-chipset in this case. The chip works fine, but
you should take care of the card you buy. Even if the chipset is
supported the card might not work at all. So read the manpage and
choose a card that is listed there -- including the revision number!

Hi!
How is the FreeBSD support for Atheros Chipsets? Is there 54 megabit speed?
It's good. See here:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ath&apropos=0&sektion=0&manpath=FreeBSD+6.1-RELEASE&format=html
And also, how is WEP and/or WPA support?
It's also good. It works for me...

Dear All,
How is the FreeBSD support for Atheros Chipsets? Is there 54 megabit speed?
