That probably means that FreeBSD isn't identifying it correctly. When I bought my 1240, FreeBSD didn't recognize it yet. It was very easy to hack the kernel's USB files (cd /usr/src/sys; grep -ri 'perfection'; vi ...) to add in the 1240's USB ID numbers (gleaned from dmesg output).
