It isn't difficult:

# pkg_delete portupgrade-20040701
# cd /usr/ports/sysutils/portupgrade
# make install

Now, all we need is the fixed version of portupgrade.

make deinstall
make install

should do it.

You might try looking at /usr/ports/sysutils/portdowngrade as well.

You can always pkg_delete an installed port.

yes. I saw from portversion that portupgrade was bumped so i ran 
"portupgrade -rv portupgrade" first.
