Alternatively, if sockstat isn't available (like on another OS),
then:

# netstat -an

Works on a lot of OS's (including windows).

For IMAP:
sockstat | grep :143

For POP3:
sockstat | grep :110

For both/either:
sockstat | egrep ":143|:110"
