Dan I'm running a couple of mini-ITX sized mini-bsd machines now. They're dedicated to SSL proxy duties. They boot and run fom 32MB compact flash cards. / is mounted read only, /var & /tmp are ramdisks. That's what I exactly did with my home machine: did a minimal 6.2 installation, 'portsnap fetch', 'portsnap extract' and then ports installation.
