Coming from a linux background, I understand that up to the 2.4.x series of kernels that scsi emulation is required of ide drives in order to burn CDs. This will no longer be a requirement with the new 2.6.x series of kernels.
What is the current requirement in FreeBSD? Is this scsi emulation required and, if so, will this change in the near future?
