Because they're among the best laptops available, open source developers tend to focus on supporting them faster than a lot of other laptops. It's the best of both worlds. Also . . . Lenovo is selling some Thinkpad models with SuSE Linux installed. Those are likely to be better supported by FreeBSD than other models, I would imagine.
