Hello, To move a file tree from one place to another I see as an example: # tar -cf - local | tar --unlink -xpf - -C /mnt What does '--unlink' do exactly? I can't see it in the man page of tar(1). Without this option, tar overwrites existing files, which preserves existing hardlinks. With this option, existing hardlinks will be broken, as will any symlink that would affect the location of an A quick perusal of the source confirms.
