Doing a make buildworld from a directory other than /usr/src
results in the following:
[log]
/usr/obj/.usr/amd64/src/lib32/usr/lib32/libl.a -
/usr/obj/.usr/amd64/src/lib32/usr/lib32/libln.a
/usr/obj/.usr/amd64/src/lib32/usr/lib32/libfl.a -

I've just moved /usr/src to /usr/src_amd64 and am reruning a build:
rm -rf /usr/obj
make cleandir
make buildworld
Will let you know how that turns out. Will prove the problem is not
with the source being else where if it works.
