It appears that the above isn't the case. I managed to get a failure of nfs in UDP mode as well. I got some messages about jumbo frames that didn't make sense coming from the NIC when that happened and some corruption of files. I believe there is an issue with mpsafe on the sk0 nic. Turning off debug.mpsafenet (i.e. setting to 0) seems to have resolved the issue for me at the moment.
