just bought one of these devices (DX5050) and made it work on FreeBSD with a partly modified patch. If others want to try it, the full details (including SANE configuration) are at http://info.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/FreeBSD/dx5050.html (includes a kernel patch, currently at http://info.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/FreeBSD/dx5050.20070828.diffs but the url might change as i work on it). It would be nice to know other stories. Have not tried the printer yet, but the scanner does work, and the cardreader works as well.
