TAOKA様が以下をお書きになりました。

Please exit X before installing.
これは、車の修理は走っている時にはしない(できない)
といった類いのことではないでしょうか :)
少しこちらでも調べましたら、以下の文面に当たりました。
Before you begin the installation, exit the X server and terminate all
OpenGL applications (note that it is possible that some OpenGL
applications persist even after the X server has stopped).
従って、openGLを終了すべく以下のようにしました。
#ps aux | grep openGL
とやって、openGLのプロセス番号を調べて、
#kill プロセス番号
とやります。ところが、
なぜか、
no such process
と出てきまして、ここでpsコマンドで再度確認すると、何故かプロセス番号が増えてます。
よって同じようにkillしても結果は同じように、no such process と出てきます。
やり方がまずいのかと思い、xeyes で試すと問題ありません。
つまり、どのようにしたらバックグラウンドで動いているopenGLを終了させれるか、と言うことです。
