While it seems interesting in theory, from what Ryan has told me it would
require
massive change to the code base, which I do not think is worthwhile without
significant demand.
This ability could be provided with SRIOV host support, which I would rather
see.

Doesn't matter, I have a coworker who handles Solaris, he can probably
give me some info :) SRIOV allows you to partition the device at the PCI
level and then you can 'assign' to a virtual guest or whatever, its still
the
most desireable to me.

The environment that I tested in when the virtualization support was put

the driver was using SRIOV, not pass-through, we have never validated the
latter, and whenever it crops up it seems to be having problems.

What version/distro of Linux are you using. I've had both a 2 and 4 cpu kvm
guest for
development purposes here at Intel and it worked fine. Last I used it was
on Fedora 17
if memory serves, its been a while.
