I don't have any plans to put it into git, no. I'm going to do a
second pass at what's in ifconfig soon for 802.11 and break more of
out into lib80211.

I see that there is some activity (not very frequent, though) in the
/lib/lib80211 section of the HEAD branch[1].
I wonder if there is any plans to move the code on GitHub as a seperate
project? Similar to libifconfig [2]...

The real problem(tm) is that we don't have a nice framework for handling device
lifecycle when it comes to unplug events like this.
