That's a good idea, I've always liked barbarians :)

The question is what these barbarian players would be. I guess we need
something more specific than Pirates and Barbarians. Following this
convention we might be able to add 1-2 more players something like Raiders
maybe, but even this name seems a bit far-fetched. Many historical nations
that would sort of fit this profile can be taken by human players already
(Visigoths, Vikings, etc.) and the one that are not included in the game may
be added later on.

What about some totally fictional, custom, nations with fictional leaders.
like The Pirate Confederacy or The Mountain Barbarians Alliance? Some more
off-the-wall names are also an option, as long as they are cannot be mistaken
for a real nation.

Details:

When the Electric Age city style was enabled for Amplio under bug #14376, we
didn't have any sprites for the trident-based tilesets, so they fall back to
the modern city style for the relevant periods.

A guest called Moonflat on the forum
http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?p=25704#25704 has posted some Trident
electric age city graphics that are transitional between industrial and
modern.

This can be dropped into trident pretty much as-is. The other tilesets
(isotrident [and hence isophex] and hex2t) will require a little more work,
but can use the same basic graphics.

Here's my take:

-Make Barbarians and Pirates playable (grouped under 'Imaginary')
-Flag as sea barbarian: Viking, Illyrian, Japanese, Polynesian etc. - any
nation that has a history of piracy
-Flag as land barbarians: Visigothic, Vandalic, Mongolian, Manchu, etc. - any
nation that has a nomadic heritage
-If we run out of barbarian nations despite this, just fall back to any
nation ;)
