xgettext (GNU gettext-tools) 0.18.3

The 'make update-po' command works. But it does build the catalog file, then
it merges all the po files with the catalog and then does a complete compile
of all po files to output the gmo compiled files.

I was a lot more simple in S2_5. You modify the po file, then issue the make
command ( without targets) and the you get the gmo file. And then, if you
wanted to try the translation, you could install it.

And also, now the specific targets for the po files do not exist. For
instance, the 'make es.pox' has disappeared.

Maybe you simplified the infrastucture. Now I realize that there is a 'make
update-gmo' command. But, then I should be included in a general compile.

I can't see any problems in S2_6, or even difference between S2_5 and S2_6.
There has been updates to the related bootstrap stuff, though, so it's
possible that we rely on something we shouldn't. What is your xgettext
version? 'xgettext --version'

When you say that you issue 'make' you really mean 'make' without any
parameters (target)?
Does 'make update-po' (which I myself have always been using) work?

Details:


In S2_6 and trunk you cannot compile to translation po files. In S2_5 you can
do that.

When you issue the command 'make' on the directory translations/freeciv'
nothing happens.
