Follow-up Comment #4, bug #19019 (project freeciv): Great, many thanks for this! One thing though, for the next release can we work on adding the language names next to the ISO code? I'm sure we can all quote ours in our sleep but most folk can't. Hopefully shouldn't be hard to make it read: de Deutsch ga Gaeilge gd GĂ idhlig etc I can't code but I can compile a list for you, if that would be any help? ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Update of bug #19019 (project freeciv): Planned Release: = 2.3.1 ___ Follow-up Comment #5: More thoughts on making the language selection more slick in bug #19087. I claim this bug is done, since the basics are there. (I think finding names for the languages will be the easiest part of this...) ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #3, bug #19019 (project freeciv): Looks good to me -- I tested it (on Windows 7) with gd and in auto mode (nothing changed from defaults). ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #19019 (project freeciv): I figured out how to add a dialog with a drop-down list to the installer, but I don't know yet how to fill it with only the languages that have been selected for installation in the previous dialog. So the list currently contains all language codes. Here's a 2.3.1 installer for testing: http://download.gna.org/freeciv/packages/windows/testing/Freeciv-2.3.1-2027-win32-gtk2-setup.exe ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Nachricht geschickt von/durch Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #19019 (project freeciv): Excellent, thanks! I'm sure that'll be a lot better than editing shortcuts. I'll test it as soon as I can (probably not this evening). ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

URL: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 Summary: Language selection in Windows installer Project: Freeciv Submitted by: jtn Submitted on: Sat Nov 19 02:05:30 2011 Category: None Severity: 1 - Wish Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Assigned to: cproc Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: 2.3.0 Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: Microsoft Windows Planned Release: ___ Details: It's been suggested on freeciv-i18n that having the Windows installer prompt for a language to use would make it much easier for non-technical users to use languages other than English; the batch file recently provided helps with this, but using it still requires a slightly daunting procedure http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Interface_Language#Windows. If the installer could prompt for a language code to populate the menu shortcut with initially, that would probably help. (A drop-down would be best, but a text box would be better than nothing.) There's been at least one report of Freeciv picking up the system language (Spanish) on its own, although the evidence is that this only works for major languages; so the current behaviour should remain the default, for the benefit of the languages where it Just Works. (This is almost certainly too late for 2.3.1, of course.) ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19019 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
