[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #15805] fix city map (variable city radii, xaw client)

2011-01-13 Thread Vijay Kiran Kamuju

Follow-up Comment #19, bug #15805 (project freeciv):

nah, the custom xaw widget used does not support scaling bitmaps.
If you can help/guide me with the implementation of scrolling the city map, I
can reopen this defect.

Follow-up Comment #20, bug #15805 (project freeciv):

I tested again a city with a modifed ruleset - the city map looks nice in
this client (see screen shoot). What do you mean with the limit 20? The
number of citizens (the line of small people at the top)?

this patch was mainly about the city map. Is it OK in the xaw client with

You have old ruleset data somethere in the path. Freeciv 2.3.0 has updated
 all ruleset / tileset / ... capabilities.

Hmm. I blew away /usr/local/share/freeciv and still had the same
symptoms. I've also rm'ed ~/freeciv and am currently rebuilding the new svn

If you start freeciv from the build directory, the data directory from this
build is used. Try

# ./civ

or/and

# ./ser

I do it all the time while another freeciv version is installed as rpm.

unable to load save games in xaw client.

I did test it - I can start a new game but after I did load a savegame I
could not connect to it. Only after I did use a username which was defined in
the game it did work. For the example game (file #11502) you have to use the
username 'jtn'.

Furthermore, at exit the client sometimes segfaults. I did no further
investigations.

This error message says that ruleset file is freeciv-2.3 compatible
and your binary is not, not the other way around. So you have correct
ruleset file, but you are running outdated build of freeciv.

[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #15805] fix city map (variable city radii, xaw client)

2010-12-08 Thread Matthias Pfafferodt

Follow-up Comment #7, bug #15805 (project freeciv):

Here's an editor-created savegame I've used for testing, with two cities
with different radii and numbers of build slots.

Yes, with the help of the editor on can create easily such savegames. Another
way is to start an autogame with the experimental ruleset. My default start
script reads:

rulesetdir experimental
hard
set topologyWRAPX|WRAPY
set generator ISLAND
set size1
set tinyisles enabled
set landmass33
set aifill 5
set foggedborders enabled
set minplayers 0
set timeout -1
set migration enabled
set specials500
set huts250
set techlevel 50
set startu xxx
set gold5000

It loads with trunk but not with S2_3.

This is due to the strick checkig if the savegame is OK for this freeciv
version. See also bug #17271.

2010-12-08 Thread David Lowe

Follow-up Comment #8, bug #15805 (project freeciv):

Using trunk/r18707 i'm getting intermittent server crashes with the
experimental ruleset that don't happen with the default ruleset. This is the
GTK client, so i'm not sure if you want me to file a separate bug report or
leave it here. After clicking Turn Done or typing Shift + Enter, i get
either of the following messages at the command line:

1: Lost connection to server: read error.

 -or-

1: Lost connection to server: server disconnected.

In either case, the client window stays open but goes back to the main menu.
Since the client doesn't crash, neither GDB nor the -F argument have given
me any further info. Also, invoking the server directly fails with:

0: data/default/techs.ruleset: ruleset datafile appears incompatible:
0: datafile options: +Freeciv-2.3-ruleset
0: supported options: +1.9

The attached savefile at least reliably and repeatably causes the server
crash. Take the Thais and end the turn.

please try to start server and client seperatly. This will work at the

Did savegame loading has undergone any changes in other clients

There is a new savegame format but the entry function did not change. The
savegame handling in the gtk client was redone but I know of no basic changes
to it.

 1: in unquote_block() [savegame2.c::991]: assertion '1 ==

This is fixed in bug #17193.

Try to start only the server and load the game. You need a trunk build.
