[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #21779] GTK2 client disconnects when starting game on 1870 x 720 Earth map with reveal map on game start on.
Follow-up Comment #2, bug #21779 (project freeciv): Ok. freeciv-gtk2 in 2.4.2 now starts with no problems (well besides taking a very long time), but freeciv-gtk3 in 2.4.2 still has (what appears to be) the same problem. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?21779 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #3, bug #21779 (project freeciv): freeciv-gtk3 in 2.4.2 still has (what appears to be) the same problem Mm. I encountered a similar symptom with the Gtk2 client (see my forum post http://forum.freeciv.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=8t=255p=1543hilit=buffer+overflow#p1543] where the server disconnected the client with buffer overflow (which means too much data had backed up in the server's network socket because the client was slow to handle it). Perhaps you're seeing the same? (Running a separate server would show this.) Maybe the general extra sluggishness of the Gtk3 client is tipping it over the edge for you. (Perhaps we can hope for patch #4590 to have improved that?) ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?21779 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

I can start a game with reveal map set to off (haven't played it yet though, so it may crash later). Follow-up Comment #1, bug #21779 (project freeciv): Try upgrading to 2.4.2. It has fixes for a cause of this specific symptom (see for instance bug #18532). --jtn ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?21779 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
