Re: [Freedombox-discuss] Stable image builds

2017-07-22 Thread Johannes Keyser
Hi all,

I'm also testing the latest raspberry2 image:
http://ftp.freedombox.org/pub/freedombox/stable-2017.06/freedombox-stable-nonfree_2017-07-17_raspberry2-armhf.img.xz

I can confirm the MAC of the wired interface is now stable - thanks, James!

I'll also test the OpenVPN issue, but that'll take a while.
@mray, yes the user is warned "To perform a secure setup, this process
takes a very long time. Depending on how fast your FreedomBox is, it may
even take hours. If the setup is interrupted, you may start it again."

In my case, I can see everything fine, using HDMI. I do see the the
error "sr_init: platform driver register failed for SR" for a few
seconds, but then it proceeds with a normal, crisp, colorful terminal image.

Best,
Johannes

Hello I'm french.

I'm sorry I just tried again and this confirms what I thought, with the
stable version freedombox, after 24 hours openvpn is not installed, I
plugged in parallel another rpi2 with the testing version and openvpn is
Installed after 3 hours 40 minutes.

I looked at the changelogs
https://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox/ReleaseNotes and I have not found
what could justify this difference with openvpn on the rpi2 in stable
versions. Concerns that I have never had by installing 5 or 6 times the
testing version on the rpi2.

I have no other means of proving what I mean.

Ok now I'm pinging the good new IP... during some minutes, then it has

A new IP is given to the RPi... ok it's pinging now !
And webinterface is here.

But sadly it's always a black screen on the RPi !

Damn @mac address ! Sorry for forgotten to check this !!
(sooo many months with the same IP given by DHCP static lease... buh!)

So, Am I alone with a black screen ??
Because of this proprietary video firmware ?

Re: [Freedombox-discuss] Stable image builds

2017-07-18 Thread Pierre L.
Hey,
Thx for your new image.

I've tried on my RPi 2, using 2 different sdcards, I got sadly the same
error as before since
freedombox-stable-nonfree_2017-06-18_raspberry2-armhf.img
(message on mailing list 21st June)

It quikly boot, some lines on the screen appears, then stuck on :
"sr_init: platform driver register failed for SR"

I've discovered Etcher to copy the .img and verify the sdcard after,
it's ok in my case...

May be others will be lucky :s

Hi all,

An issue was found with the raspberry2 image, where the ethernet MAC
(and IP) address would change on every boot. While we don't know the
root cause yet, there is a workaround using NetworkManager to provide a
stable MAC address.

A new raspberry2 image (2017-07-17) has been uploaded which includes the
workaround. If you use Raspberry Pi 2, please check that it is working
as expected.
