I think it should include all categories of the online LSM database
*but* please provide a version without sources, otherwise the download
will be huge. Sources can be provided separately in some huge ZIP, or
you can provide a CD-ROM image with "binary AND sources" for those who
want it. Or you can even tell people to find sources by surfing the LSM
database for everything outside the base category (and do not provide
any COLLECTION-of-all-sources-in-one-image-or-zip at all).

Further, I have started a "base plus some goodies" distro which fits on
3 floppy disks (binary / hhstndrd + documentation + other, where "other"
contains some bigger programs and the files which you need to create a
version of the distro in another language, e.g. German). The problem is
that this project got stuck after the initial release due to lack of time.
Maybe somebody can pick it up and improve it. The goal is to have (almost)
all BASE packages and the most useful supplementary files all bundled on
a small floppy distro - as opposed to ODIN which only provides the binaries
and has to leave out some drivers and configuration but fits on ONE floppy.
My floppy distro (working name: Brezel - like the German(?) thing which
Bush tried to eat) is configured for German by default. The second (DOC)
disk only contains one huge ZIP. The third (language / big) disk would only
be needed for "language changing" most of the time. So you still have
a distro where the ONE first floppy is enough for most purposes.

I have had a quick look at the new HHSTNDRD and FSUITE04 / FS04DE now:
- FASTHELP should not only check %HELPPATH%\command.%LANG% but if this
file is not found it should continue with command (no filename extension)
and finally %HELPPATH%\command.* rather than giving up at once.
- APROPOS still shows the same line of text multiple times in some cases,
there should be code which suppresses this in the output routine and/or
  the WHATIS database creation process.
- HELP did indeed improve quite a bit, but what is the purpose of the new
help\docinfo\bi\nls\... directories? could have been flatter... I have
copied an old hhstndrd (zip file) to some help\de directory for fun (it
is actually the English 1.03 hhstndrd, nothing German), but it looks as
if it would be quite tricky to tell HELP about the "new Language". It
simply shows a language menu as start screen, but that menu is not
dynamically generated as far as I can tell.

--> I repeat my suggestion from my previous mail: The help system needs
a review. Maybe we can split the work, something like "I check commands
from A* to H*, ??? checks I* to R*, ??? checks S* to Z*...". Example bugs:
LBAcache "STAT" and "size is in kbyte" missing, LBAcache XMS pointing to
FDXMS only, FDXMS <-> HIMEM crossreferences missing, MODE help describes
old MODE, DRIVPARM has help but is not implemented in FreeDOS,
GRAPHICS help could be better (printer list is too optimistic, could
explain why GRAPH-PS has no /R... <- because in PS, the printer does
the dithering itself, so the PC does not do it), LBAcache is only .com
from now on (no sys), DRV is deprecated and only for very special purposes.

[Maybe we should fork off new mail threads: Brezel and HtmlHelp and Beta9!]

Eric
