Re: [Freedos-devel] freecom beep crash question
Hello Eric, I notice that FreeCOM 0.84pre2 hangs after beeping, probably because it uses some method for timing the beep which fails on certain hardware. Could somebody tell me whether newer FreeCOM versions fix this by using a foolproof timer, for example the 40:6c timer tick counter? Is there a method to disable beeping, for example using a command line option? I am not sure. Maybe try downloading a newer version (https://github.com/FDOS/freecom/releases) and see if the problem persists? FreeCOM 0.84pre2 is more than 3 years old... [Freedos-devel] freecom beep crash question
Hi! I notice that FreeCOM 0.84pre2 hangs after beeping, probably because it uses some method for timing the beep which fails on certain hardware. Could somebody tell me whether newer FreeCOM versions fix this by using a foolproof timer, for example the 40:6c timer tick counter? Is there a method to disable beeping, for example using a command line option? Given my habit to use tab-completion in FreeCOM, crashing after each beep is quite annoying :-p Thanks for your ideas!
