Enjoy :-)

PS: DOS never comes with sound. But DOS games support SoundBlaster
compatible (not AC97, sorry) soundcards, using drivers in the games.
For some soundcards you need INIT / SETUP tools for DOS, though!
Example: http://au.geocities.com/mamecab/viaudio.zip
Alternative, sometimes: Set your BIOS CMOS setup to PnP OS: no.
Then the BIOS does minimal PnP soundcard init for you.

Re: [Freedos-user] Problem with bad or missing command interpreter

2006-02-27 Thread charlie_chan

I had a problem last night with MS-DOS which yours is similar to.
I had added a line of code to the config.sys file which conflicted with
the last
line in the config.sys file, which involved device drivers for cd
players. The
command.com was not loaded on the next restart. I kept entering
c:\command.com until the

command prompt appeared. Then I kept entering 'edit config.sys' to get
access to the config file. The first time config.sys loaded it was empty.
So, I rebooted and started over. On the second reboot, I got the command
prompt to load rather easily (3 tries) and the config.sys file loaded
properly.

I removed the bad line of code and rebooted. All was well after that.

Hi,

I tried to install FreeDOS Beta 9 SR 2 and I ran into the problem that
I got the message Bad or missing command interpreter when I try to
boot from HDD after the installation. There are two interesting things:

1. The message appears before (!) I can use the configuration menu (in
FDCONFIG.SYS)
2. The problem disappears when I insert the disk I created from
fdos1440.img (but I definately boot from HDD)

It'd be nice if I'd be able to use FreeDOS without the floppy disk.

I have a single HDD in my PC and I tried to create both a FAT16 and a
FAT32 partition but the effect remains the same.

Regards,
Mark

2006-02-27 Thread Tristan
Hi,

my wife has got Linux in work, but she has also 1 dos application. In DosBox
installer reports error, dosemu doesn't work at all on hers computer. It
reports kernel errors and dies.

I thought I install FreeDos on other HDD but she has no pronter. She uses
remote printer from Windows XP. Is it possible to map remote printer as LPT1:
in freedos?
