[Freedos-user] alt.os.free-dos

2006-09-17 Thread Gerry Hickman
Hi,

Would it be possible to add a link to FreeDOS newsgroups just below the
link called Mailing List / Chat on the main www.freedos.org page?

I noticed this group is now starting to be used, and it's popularity
will be further increased because Google will rank it higher based on
popularity. All in all a good marketing strategy for FreeDOS.

I'm planning the switch to NNTP today.

Just a quick word about spam. Right now there's less spam in the
FreeDOS newsgroup than in the WiKi (which now has debt consolidation
as the headlines!)

However, it's very important to use a thow away email when subscribing
to newsgroups, as the email addresses WILL be harvested. Just get a
hotmail address and never look at it. Microsoft can pick up the
bandwidth bill.

One other quick note on NNTP, you CAN set up servers to require
authentication if you want to, but personally I'm happy with the public
ones.

Good-bye to the list, and see you all on the newsgroups!

Hi. There is already a link to this NG (and 3 others) on
http://www.freedos.org/freedos/lists/ (alt.os.free-dos is the first one
listed.)

Can you point to a URL that has debt consolidation as the...

I already fixed that: Somebody had put spam into the navbar page,
but with a wiki, it is a matter of seconds to fix it. Go to the
page, view the history, restore the previous version :-).

Re: [Freedos-user] Need help ... calling COMMAND.COM from C

2006-09-17 Thread Marton

Many thanks for the suggestions but instead of doing stuff in my code...
couldn't we somehow add a delay to FreeCOM before it exits (when called with
/c) so everything gets flushed and it works for everyone? Under command.com
everything works as-is and it is a crime to patch my code instead of doing a
general solution...

Thanks again,
Marton
