Speaking of freedos 1.1.
I know freedos isn't intended to be dos *exactly* but it is intended
to be a free dos replacement.
This is fine for those using emulators under other operating systems,
and those who can see their screens.
However, I'm interested in using freedos as well, and not being able
to see, kind of puts a crimp in things.
Last time I tried running my screen reader on freedos (admittedly, it
was several years ago, and freedos wasn't anywhere near ver 1.0) it
just plain didn't work.
However, since then, I know freedos has come a long way, and I have
decided to get involved (if possible) to help freedos work for
visually impaired users as well.
There is a free w/source screen reader for dos called provox.
(can't remember where I found it, but can go look it up if needed)
I'm curious if I can get it to compile and operate properly under
freedos, is this something the freedos maintainers would be willing to
include in the main distribution?
Most modern operating systems have some sort of screen reader built-in
(although some are *extremely* limited) such as narrator, but others
such as speakup and orca included with a lot of linux distros are very
functional, and of course, osx includes a full-blown screen reader
called voiceover.
I didn't write provox, but I *think* I know the person who did, though
the source is gpl, and technically, we shouldn't have to ask his
permission.
If this could be made to work, freedos could then be listed as blind-
friendly, and would likely win a few more supporters.

So, I guess what it boils down to is:
how does one go about including a product in the base distribution,
and is screen reader access something the freedos team would agree to
include?
Thanks for any information provided.
