Eric I would like to apologize for the tone of the previous post of mine in advance!! I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, but I was pretty upset earlier today at not being able to get FreeDOS to boot after numerous attempts. I had tried it earlier without success, and this time I was DETERMINED to get it to work. To date I've only been able to get it to boot off the Live CD, or whatever it's called. I also have a dual boot X-server problem with Ubuntu Linux, but not with XP Pro, so the problems I am having could potentially be related to the new graphics card. I do NOT want to revert back to the onboard Nvidia graphics just to test that theory. I'm trying to use Microsoft Virtual PC as a testbed.
I was a little upset when I posted those screen shots, but I wasn't really trying to be mean, just highlighting some problems that caused me many hours of heartache and grief. I wonder if it's ME, or my AMD machine, or my Nvidia 6100 graphics on my WinFast motherboard, or my new ATI Radeon X1300 PCI Express 16 card (using both output ports to dual monitors), or just what could be causing FreeDOS not to boot on my machine. Are there known problems with Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 Edition which would cause boot failures? Is it the dual boot configuration causing the problem? Could it be that? Or is it something about my hard drive (Western Digital 250 GB Sata-2 drive)? My operating system (XP Pro/SP2)? I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I did want to get to the bottom of the problem as quickly as possible. Sorry if I said some harsh things in that thread on my O/S group. It's really a hobby and something I very much enjoy. I have a lot of software experience and I am used to things crashing and I can usually figure out why or find someone who can help! I hope you weren't offended by any of my comments. That was not my intention, to be critical. I rather would like some answers to questions that I have trouble finding anyone to answer. Like the one I have about the boot menu. It has 4 options and will only allow me to select the 1st 3 of the 4, and all 3 of the first 3 options crash in a different way, all probably related to EMM386, unable to continue, Please reboot=F7F& Illegal Instruction occurred CS=CF6E IP=5065 SS=9DA2 SP=2134 DS=E000 ES=6F6E etc Sound familiar? Thanks in advance!
