Depends on when you check http://odin.fdos.org/odin2005/
I updated the images, including 16bit infozip. Hopefully that now
works on 8086.
The disk image files on this page will be updated whenever I have the
time for it.

(probably soon, haven't updated HIMEM/EMM386 yet)

The zip.exe on the ODIN720 (and ODIN2880) does indeed work on my PC XT.
I must admit I'm supprised how fast it compressed my zork savegame to
36% deflation as well :) Unzip was able to unzip the file normally, and
zork loaded the savegame, so I presume all is well with zip on PC XT!

Be warned that those images are not final yet, several programs still
show errors.

The exact error text is:

C:\zip

80386 required.
Load error: no DPMI - Get csdpmi*b.zip

One cool thing you could try (although it won't work for zip), is
using EMU386 to emulate a 386 on a 286. This will probably not work
for most programs becuase the docs say it only works if 1) only real
mode is used, and 2) the program does not check the CPU. Here is a
link:
http://members.tripod.com/~survpc/emu386/

It'd be very interesting if the source ever became available; it could
possibly be expanded to support PM and apps that check the CPU type.
