[Freedos-user] Installig Freedos from the hard disk.

2015-07-03 Thread ENRIQUE STEFANINI
Hi: I have managed to install freedos onto a fat32 partition on the hard disk.
This is a notebook with no optical drives or floppies. The OS boots OK and I
can run DOS programs. How can I install the rest of the software? I have the
fd11src.iso file, from which I copied all its files to C:\, including
kernel.sys and command.com.

Hola Enrique,

In this case you will need to 'mount' your iso file
A software like SHSUCD [1] can help you
I don't really recall the command line to load the iso
but other guys on ths may give you more details :)

The best way to move files in general is using networking. Does this
laptop have any ethernet interface? If not, you might want consider
adding a PCMCIA ethernet adapter, there are plenty that are compatible
with FreeDOS, and they are quite cheap on top of that (I got mine on
ebay for less than 15 euros, shipping included).

Then, specifically talking about installing DOS software - try using
FDNPKG of course, it has been designed exactly for that purpose :)
