Good old Dr-DOS 8.03 had a taskmanager, which supports some Win9x (or Win3.11...I don't know now) drivers for network cards. With JEMM I think it would be possible to port drivers of Linux...(Mpxplay has ported sound driver). I think the big problem would be to emulate f.e. SB16.
