I fully agree with you ;-)

I've been testing FreeDOS on several machines and virtual Machines,
using Virtual Box. Of course like many fellow FreeDOS users I've
encountered some problems, but have always been able to solve them.

For example I've had a problem booting from the CD-ROM on a machine.
However it was a hardware problem. Usually as soon as I install a CD-ROM
drive, I remove the Master/Slave jumper. This machine however required
the jumper at the right placed. After I replaced it, I was able to
install FreeDOS from the boot CD flawlessly.

The main reason of my original message, was a reaction to the "FreeDOS
is great, but it doesn't work" messages that where recently posted.

I'm concerned FreeDOS coders will give up. Remember all of them are
simply human beings, who have a *LIFE* beyond FreeDOS. They don't get
payed for their *GREAT* work and if you just keep on criticizing their
work over and over and... at some time they've had it and will lose
interest in the project.

The only thing "our" coders deserve is our deepest respect, for the
great things they've accomplished.

IMHO it's simply a matter of competence (or more likely, the lack there
of) if users are unable to successfully install FreeDOS. Don't blame the
install script, because it works just fine!

FreeDOS simply isn't for n00bs. Period ;-)

Glad to hear that you have no problems!! FreeDOS does work!
It works for me as well now that I know what's what with
certain hardware configurations.

The FreeDOS project has done very well considering -- there
are so many different hardware combinations, BIOSs, device
drivers, memory management issues, and even software out
there worldwide, it's huge!

They can't test them all unless those of us who do have
problems diplomatically speak up and try to help by testing
and such. Successful software gets that way from testing and
retesting on as many different machines as possible with
dedicated programmers who enjoy working on this sort of
project.

I'm sorry guys and girls, but I've been working with FreeDOS for quite
some time and I don't understand why on earth some of you have such
problems, getting FreeDOS to work :-/

I've got FreeDOS working on a dedicated machine, without a glitch!

In my point of view there's absolutely *nothing* wrong with the
installation and configuration program.

I simply don't get it, because it works perfectly for me, or am I crazy Huh?
