Excellent! :) I wanted to use a newer kernel anyway. I already have
2039 on another installation, so it takes my only a copy to update.
However I didn't know it's a bug, I thought I set up my system to
work, and only update after that. :D

this is a known bug in the FreeDOS 1.0 kernel. It's been fixed in
newer kernels (from July 21 2007, and newer, e.g. 2038, 2039).
