 exposed as a serial port, it should have a good chance of running.

 read though, so you are probably out of luck

As long as the modem understands the AT modem command set, and it is
exposed as a serial port, it should have a good chance of running.

usb legacy modem - no chance. Maybe you have some BIOS settings for 
supporting legacy modem, but I highly doubt you can get this to work.

DSL PPPoE connected by netword card - low chance and complicated
You need first luck to find a driver for your network card and luck to 
get it working, this driver might be free. For DSL the only method is 
pepa, but I personally never got it to work.

Also an more easy method to go online with DOS is network card + network 
card driver + network cable + router with DHCP.
