When Windows 9x runs own driver(s) for mice, it hides consequent resources (UARTs, PS/2 port), so running CuteMouse before or inside Windows is (probably) safe. Under Win3 running CM is neccessary for supporting mouse in DOS boxes. Hi Eric, -- Original Message - Subject: [Freedos-user] re: My experiment with Windows 3.1 on FreeDOS in VMware Date: Sat, 3 Sep 2005 23:37:47 +0200 (MEST) From: Eric Auer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net Heh, I love spreading FUD against MS ;-). FUD? The crash when attempting to run a DOS program or DOS box from within Windows is caused by wswap exe or dswap exe of Windows being unable to "swap the context" of the DOS session with the FreeDOS kernel. In other words, they cannot modify the running DOS to make it "free" to start a new DOS program while Windows is still around in the background. Do you exactly know what DSWAP does in order to try and swap the context? Not all Windows versions have all of those /D:... options. Yeah, I remember seeing that in the Wikipedia article on FreeDOS... but my Windows doesn't seem to recognize *any* of the /D options. Every time /D is specified, Program Manager tries to execute it as a program. --- SF.Net email is Sponsored by the Better Software Conference & EXPO September 19-22, 2005 * San Francisco, CA * Development Lifecycle Practices Agile & Plan-Driven Development * Managing Projects & Teams * Testing & QA Security * Process Improvement & Measurement * http://www.sqe.com/bsce5sf ___ Freedos-user mailing list Freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
