Re: [Freehoo-devel] default connect port!?
Hi Kendal, I am really really sorry for responding late. 5050 seems to be the correct port number and not 23. I will fix it and make a new minor release. Thanks for correcting us. -- Anand Babu Periasamy GPG Key ID: 0x62E15A31 Blog [http://ab.multics.org] GlusterFS [http://www.gluster.org] The GNU Operating System [http://www.gnu.org] Kendal Montgomery wrote: Hi. I downloaded the freehoo 3.5.2 source from http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/freehoo/ today (12/15/2008). I was able to download and install the pre-requisites and got freehoo to compile and install perfectly, but I found a bit of a problem -- the default connect port is 23 for the pager_port setting passed to the yahoo_init_with_attributes function. This seemed a bit strange considering the pager port should be 5050 by default, since this is what the yahoo server that is connected to by default (scs.msg.yahoo.com) listens on. The error occurs on line 943 of the yahoo-backend.c source file. Is port 23 really the expected default value? Is there a configuration or runtime option that can be used to set the port (doesn't appear so from my quick glance at the code)? In any case, things work perfectly if you change that line to read pager_port, 5050, NULL); instead of the default pager_port, 23, NULL); Thanks for any help / info back about this. Re: [Freehoo-devel] Yahoo login failed, older version ... no longer supported
Hi Robert, Libyahoo2 handles the protocol layer. Libyahoo2 maintainer could not actively maintain the project since he joined Yahoo. Please check their mailing list http://libyahoo2.sourceforge.net/ I have personally moved to XMPP (jabber) protocol. Check out GNU Freetalk, it is a clone of Freehoo for jabber protocol. It works for Google Talk as well. Robert Dodier wrote: Hello, I'm running Freehoo 3.5.3 on Linux. When I tried to run it for the first time, it reported a message from Yahoo, You are using an older version of Yahoo! Messenger that is no longer supported and then terminated. I guess the Yahoo Messenger protocol has been changed since Freehoo 3.5.3 was released. What would it take to update Freehoo? I am comfortable with programming various kinds of protocols so if the changes aren't too great, I might be able to do it (and I'd be glad to submit patches accordingly). Thanks for any info. Thanks also for making Freehoo available, it seems like a great project. best Robert Dodier PS. Logging in as [robert_dodier] in [Available] mode Yahoo System Message: Some versions of Yahoo!
